Aelissm Davis was all set to start the dream life and as people would say, she had it all. A rich fiance, a set life plan, a satisfactory job, some good friends and her belief for a happy future. But one night all this changed when her fiance Bryce tried to rape her and her friend Adam, in order to save her, killed Bryce, his own best friend!!
It was as if something snapped that night and Adam was never the same. He became obsessive of Aelissm and would not leave her alone despite her repeated warnings and pleadings. Out of options and running away from Adam and her nightmares of that horrible night, she comes back to the one place she always felt was her home, Northstar in Montana.
Seeing Adam's talent at finding Aelissm every time she became sure that no one could find her, her uncle Bill who is the Sheriff in another county, requests Patrick O'Neil, one of his deputies and also a good friend to take a vacation to Northstar and protect her until Adam is caught. Patrick or Pat has his own demons to take care of and he is a haunted man running from his nightmares.
Can he protect Aelissm? Will Adam find Aelissm once again and what will happen when he does? Can Patrick overcome his fears and let go of the past to accept his feelings for Aelissm? Can Aelissm stop Patrick when the time comes for him to leave and convince him of her love for him? A soulful story set in the beautiful Montana. This is a vacation where you don't have to actually travel to the place to feel the beauty and peace of it all. The author succeeds in creating a vivid picture in the reader's mind and it's as if we are there seeing everything and feeling every shift in the weather.
The sister like love and true companionship between June and Aelissm; the no-returns-required love between June and her foster son, Luke; the budding romance and emotional bond between Aelissm and Pat; also the support and love shared among the people in the close- knit community in Northstar is beautifully sketched and portrayed. The only downside is the pace of the story which is not the fast paced turn of events one would expect after reading the blurb. Nevertheless it's a good story with plenty of suspense and takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride.
The cozy cabin set in the wilderness and the peace of the woods of Montana with the snow covered mountains is the best place to heal and go to, to forget all our worries and get engrossed in the love story of Pat and Aelissm who live there! I give "Mountain Angel" a 4 out of 5 and recommend the book for a lazy day or when you want to leave the buzz of the city and travel to heaven on earth where the air is clean, weather unpredictable and where their is only happiness and love among the residents who are willing to lay down their lives to save one of their own!
The next book in the series, "Summer Angel" is definitely on my "To-Read" list now. I downloaded this last October and while looking around for something 'light' to read I found it had one really good review on Amazon so I thought I'd give it a go and the review was right it's a lovely romance. The characters are great and not just Aeli and Pat but Joan, Luke and the whole town, I loved them all and it's told so beautifully. I've noticed that at the moment there are 3 more books out in this series Summer Angel, Wild Angel and Twice Shy so I'll be checking them out.

If you're looking for a gentle, slow building romance then this could be worth checking out. View 1 comment. Received an email from PixelofInk. Especially since it happened to be free. Too often, free kindle books are just smutty, and while this one had a few sex scenes even one with a young preteen boy walking in on the amorous couple they weren't too bad.
The storyline is what hooked me.
What’s Done Been Wrote
There are more than enough books with a weak, broken, helpless heroine who needs rescuing by a strong, protective, capable man. But thi Received an email from PixelofInk. But this book gave us a strong, capable woman trying to handle a difficult, painful situation with a former friend turned stalker on her own, with loving family taking extra precaution to make sure she's safe in her own home. Aeli isn't your typical damsel in distress; the girl welds metal into art, and is good enough at it that she's getting paid to teach students to do the same.
She grew up in the mountains, chops her own firewood without breaking a sweat, and keeps guns that she knows how to shoot in her house for protection. She's beautiful, funny, REAL, and very down-to-earth. There's nothing not to like about this girl. So, I liked that break from typical "protect the girl" stories. But here's another good break, too Pat is a cop with an abusive, psychotic ex who destroyed his heart and spirit for joy so badly that his boss SENDS him on vacation and tries to play matchmaker with his niece our heroine because she could be good for him.
I love the way this story was woven.

I love the redemption aspect, too, that had nothing to do with Aeli and Pat's relationship. It was an additional thread that made this story difficult to put down. I also have to say, the author did a spectacular job describing the town Aeli lives in, Northstar, Montana. If this place is real, then it's where I want to live.
I mean Next to Aeli, Pat, June and Luke, the setting was my favorite character. The author did a great job fleshing out the details of the characters, their thoughts, their backgrounds, the setting There were some editing issues; I mostly noticed missing words and a couple of misspellings. But they didn't take away from the story for me. The odd name of the main character was more distracting; as I read I called her Allisem.
Like Allison, with an "em" at the end. Not sure if that's right but it was the best I could do. It doesn't roll off the tongue very well, and was chopping up the story in a way that kept distracting me. But this character was different from so many other characters that I've read about I get that the author wanted to honor her with a unique name.
"Mountain Angel" Lyrics
That's the only loose end that wasn't tied up for me. This was a tough choice for me in giving it 4 stars and it was really worth it. This is the first book in the series and from start to finish it was a promising and lovely read. There is a slow but not to slow build up and everybody who is important in the book is introduced at just the right time. I loved the name Patrick but unfortunately Pat the name just didn't seem to do it for me.
It was a breath of fresh air to read this as it is different to anything that I have read lately been that This was a tough choice for me in giving it 4 stars and it was really worth it. It was a breath of fresh air to read this as it is different to anything that I have read lately been that Pat was a good guy and I mean a really good guy and the author described his dilemma in a tasteful way without making him seem weak.
